PRACTICE AREAS Federal and state whistleblower laws allow individuals or entities who know of fraud affecting the government to bring their allegations to the attention of the government and receive a share of the recovery. These laws also protect whistleblowers from retaliation by their employers or others. The lawyers of the Whistleblower Law Collaborative assist clients across the nation in identifying and reporting fraud to the Government under State and Federal Qui Tam law; in particular cases involving:

Health Care Fraud

The US Department of Justice relies on the False Claims Act to recover and punish health care fraud. Under this Law the Federal Government alone recovered $19.3 billion in health care fraud claims between 2009 and 2016. Our attorneys are responsible for bringing cases responsible for billions of these recoveries.

Government Defense and Contract Fraud

The False Claims Act was enacted during the Civil War to recover funds stolen by crooked defense contractors who passed off inferior military goods to the Union Army enriching themselves and endangering our troops. Our attorneys have assisted the government in recovering funds stolen by contractors passing off shoddy goods and services, in all manner of goods, services, and major public works projects.

Financial, Tax and Other Frauds

In the wake of the financial scandals and meltdowns in recent years, Congress passed and strengthened whistleblowing laws to encourage the public’s assistance in identifying and combatting major financial fraud. Our attorneys have brought and won major cases under these programs including the SEC/CFTC programs; the IRS program; and the FIRREA program.

Whistleblower Retaliation Defense

Most federal and state whistleblower programs provide protection for individuals with the courage to speak out against fraud and corruption, whether or not the whistleblower files a case. We have successfully defended numerous clients who were retaliated against by their employer for speaking out and recovered multiples of their lost pay and other damages as compensation.
